In Jan 2026, France has formally recognised the limited confidentiality of legal advice provided by in-house counsel by having its Parliament to finally grant an approval of the bill promoted by MP Jean Terlier and supported by the Ministry of Justice of France, with key contributions from Hervé Marseille and Louis Vogel. 

This is a signal showing the French government's intention to strengthen legal sovereignty and improve the country's international competitiveness among others, while the French Bar believes that such action may reduce the corporate transparency.
